Project One works with a wide range of contract delivery methods including design-bid-build, design/build and CM/GC, and variations of each. We have worked extensively with numerous contract formats including American Institute of Architects (AIA), Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Consensus Documents, Development Agreements, and a variety of owner customized agreements, including numerous agreements drafted by our client’s counsel.
Our approach to contracts is firm but fair, with the intent to add protections and appropriate risk allocations that are seldom afforded to clients on the vast majority of projects. We know contracts, and having the first-hand knowledge of what really happens on jobsites has proven invaluable in assisting with drafting contract language that protects clients from risk, and ultimately saves time and money. Several industry standard agreements have been customized to clarify ambiguities, and terms and conditions rewritten to provide additional protection for clients. By adding clarity to the gray areas and defining fee, we have greatly minimized disputes during projects.
We find that working hard to set a project up for success allows the challenges that typically occur in construction to be more easily navigated by all parties. A foundation of trust must be established to allow team members to operate at their full potential, and the best way to accomplish this is a solid agreement on business terms.
