The Corkins Center project included demolition of the existing Jones building and construction of a new building that connects to the existing Gates Middle School building. The building serves as a new main entry to campus for visitors by means of a welcoming lobby with an entrance at Clermont Street. In addition to providing a more secure and welcoming entry-point to campus, it houses the Learning Commons, with library and technology functions, science classrooms, an innovation lab, and a “treehouse” feature. The project also included renovation of the Gates Middle School to allow for the connection of the buildings, as well as reconfiguration of some of the middle school classrooms. The Corkins Center is a multi- level, 44,775 square foot structure.
